Online schooling with The Centre for Learning@HOME is a great way to receive a quality education with the flexibility of working from home or any location with an internet connection.

Online Program Features

  • Courses follow the Alberta Programs of Study in all subjects and grades.
  • Courses are teacher directed and achieve the outcomes of the Alberta Programs of Study.
  • Teacher directed courses are delivered daily by certified teachers using our Learning Management System called Canvas.  Interactive web-based lessons and PDF documents allowing for anytime/anywhere schooling.
  • Student access to live teacher instruction in core subjects delivered via Zoom.
  • Student access to supports through our Student Services teachers including guidance and career counselling, access to our school FSLW, and Educational Assistant supports.
  • Materials, textbooks, and resources are available where required.
  • Through PowerSchool, parents can access student marks and report cards.
  • The Centre for Learning@HOME offers a faith-focused learning environment.

Highly Engaged Learning

  • Teachers are available via our Learning Management System, telephone and email.
  • Teachers offer daily prayer reflections.
  • Alberta-wide curriculum focused events, workshops, field trips, etc. are also available.
  • Live classes add interaction and engagement to student learning, and create a class community. 

Online Course Delivery

  • Students receive daily teacher-initiated contact and support.
  • Online lessons are delivered daily and/or weekly by teachers using our Learning Management System.
  • Students are accountable to their teachers on a daily and/or weekly basis.
  • This program is ideal for students who require structure.

Online courses include:

  • Access to daily instruction and Alberta certified teachers.
  • Teachers use an outcomes-based approach adhering to the Alberta Programs of Study to meet learning outcomes.
  •  Availability of teachers to students and parents online via our Learning Management System by phone, or by email during school hours.
  • Provides students with access to teacher created lessons and assessments.
  • Includes lessons, textbooks and/or novels where required.
  • Online orientation provided to all NEW students and parents.
  • Through our Learning Management System, parents have 24/7 online access to student marks and report cards.

Grades 1-9 Delivery Options:

1. Print-Based Course

Program (Grades 1-6)
  • This allows teachers and parents greater flexibility in choosing resources to meet outcomes of the Alberta Programs of Study.
  • Parents are actively involved in working with the course teacher to set the schedule for learning.
  • Access to flexible, daily instruction by Alberta certified teachers.
  • Regular assessments are conducted throughout the year to meet required outcomes.
  • Parents play an integral role in the success of their child’s education.

2. Online Course

Program (Grades 4-9)
  • The CFL@HOME selects the resources and sets the schedule for learning.
  • CFL@HOME provides the textbooks and required resources.
  • Regular assessments are conducted by the teacher throughout the year to meet required outcomes.

3. Shared Responsibility

Program (Grades 1-9)

Shared Responsibility is a program offered at The Centre for Learning@HOME for students in Grade 1 to Grade 9.  This program allows parents and teachers to work together on a learning program for the student.

  • Parents collaborate with a student services teacher to design the program that works best for the student.
  • The program consists of a combination of online and/or print-based courses delivered by a CFL teacher with the remainder of courses being part of a Home Education Program Plan delivered by the parent.
  • Online and print based courses are teacher directed. Instruction and assessment meets the outcomes of the Alberta Programs of Study.
  • Parents receive regular progress reports and communication with teachers.
  • Teachers are accessible on a daily basis.
  • A percentage of Home Education Funding is available to support your child’s Homme Education Program Plan.

Grades 10-12 Delivery Options:

1. Full

Online Course Program
  • The CFL@HOME selects the resources based on the Alberta Programs of Study.
  • CFL@HOME provides the textbooks and required resources.
  • Teacher directed program with a set schedule for learning.
  • Regular assessments are conducted by the teacher throughout the year to meet required outcomes.
  • Based on Alberta Curriculum and Alberta Diploma requirements.
  • Students access their learning in live classes and our Learning Management System.
  • Live classes are recorded to increase flexibility.

2. Online

Summer School – Grades 10-12
  • Study from the convivence of your own home.
  • Complete courses in 12 (3 credit) or 20 (5 credit) days.
  • A great way to try out online courses!
  • Students can take courses for the first time, or to upgrade their mark.
  • Students in Grade 9 can take Summer School courses in July of the same year.
