Why choose The Centre for Learning@HOME?
We are a Christian school community dedicated to meeting the individual needs of each of our families. Call us to experience the service that has made The Centre for Learning@HOME Alberta’s leader in home-based education since 1989.
What is the difference between Home Education, Online and Print-Based?
Home Education is where the parent is the teacher. The parent chooses and delivers a curriculum of their choice from their home. The parent decides when, where, and how their children are educated.
Online programs involve a Centre for Learning@HOME Alberta certificated faculty member teaching and assessing the Alberta Programs of Study curriculum to a class of students. Classes are scheduled throughout the week in a similar way to in-person school. All classes are delivered in a virtual format using an online classroom and learning management system. The teacher is responsible for lesson planning, delivery of curriculum and assignments, and assessment. The parent is responsible for ensuring that students attend classes, keep up with school assignments, and supervise tests as required. Students are provided with required textbooks.
Print-Based is a course delivery option within the Online program. Students meet with a teacher once a week for instruction related to the lessons and assignments. Students then work under the supervision of the parent, in collaboration and with direction from the teacher to complete and submit assignments daily. The Print-Based program is for all Grades 1-3 students and is an option for Grades 4-6. This program choice requires high parental involvement.
What opportunities are available to meet other families from CFL?
The Centre for Learning@HOME offers a wide variety of events and activities for families. There are more than 40 events and activities each month across the province. Families may choose to register and attend as many events as they want to. There are costs associated with each event and these costs vary from one event to the next.
